F. Zip Code File

Streamlined Patient and Prescriber Data Entry

Pharmacy staff can enter a ZIP code and have City and State information automatically populate, reducing manual typing and improving efficiency.

Improved Data Consistency

Maintaining ZIP codes in a single location helps ensure patient and prescriber records use standardized location information throughout BestRx.

Support for Immunization Workflows

ZIP code information may be referenced when determining county information required for certain immunization and reporting workflows. Accurate ZIP code records can help ensure required location-based information is available.

ZIP Code Records Cannot Be Imported

The Data Import/Export Utility does not support importing or exporting Zip Code File records. ZIP code information must be added manually within BestRx.

Zip Code File

The Zip Code File serves as a centralized lookup table for ZIP codes, cities, states, and related geographic information used throughout BestRx. Once a ZIP code exists in the file, entering that ZIP code elsewhere in the system automatically populates the corresponding City and State fields

To access the Zip Code File screen, click on File F. Zip Code File.

If a new zip code is entered on the Patient File or Prescriber File screen and does not already exist in the Zip Code File, BestRx automatically creates the record when the patient or prescriber information is saved. Once stored, entering that zip code anywhere in the system automatically populates the corresponding City and State.

Editing an Existing Zip Code

Select Edit Zip Code and search for the zip code by entering all or part of the code, or click the search button to view all records. Select a zip code by clicking its row or entering the line number. Make the necessary changes, then click Save to save the record or Save & Exit to save and return to the Rx Processing screen.
