Immunization Type File
The Immunization Type File is used to create and manage vaccine categories within the BestRx system. It allows immunizations to be linked to drugs, enabling access to administration details during Rx processing and supporting accurate state reporting requirements for administered vaccines.
To access the immunization type file screen, click on File C. Immunization Type File.
Some states require that all vaccines or immunizations administered or dispensed at a pharmacy be reported to the state. The BestRx program supports this requirement by allowing you to create immunization types and link them to drugs, ensuring proper reporting when the feature is enabled.
Adding a New Immunization Type
When adding a new immunization type, ensure the Add Immunization option is selected at the top of the screen. Enter the immunization name, short code, indicate whether reporting is required, and include any applicable diagnosis codes. Click Save to retain the information or Save & Exit to save and return to the Rx Processing screen.

Editing an Existing Immunization Type
To edit an existing immunization type, enter a full or partial name to search and select the record from the list. Update the necessary fields, then click Save to keep changes or Save & Exit to save and return to the Rx Processing screen.
Deleting an Immunization Type
Warning: An immunization type cannot be deleted if it is already linked to a drug, as it is required for reporting purposes.
To delete an immunization type, select the Edit Immunization option, choose the record, click Delete, and confirm by selecting Yes when prompted.
You can clear all fields on the screen by clicking Cancel or by pressing Enter while the Cancel button is highlighted.
Immunization Type In Drug File
A drug can be assigned to an immunization type when creating a new drug or adding one from the Master Drug File to ensure vaccine administration information is available. In the Drug File, select the desired drug, click More, then select Immunization. From the dropdown menu, choose the appropriate immunization type that was previously created.

When a prescription is marked as an immunization, the immunization administration information can be accessed by selecting the syringe icon

Incentive fee not auto-populating
The incentive fee will not auto-populate unless it is configured in the Immunization Type File and the drug is linked to that type.

Navigate to More
Link/save under the correct Immunization Type
Immunization not triggering expected workflow
If the immunization workflow (fees, prompts, or processing logic) is not triggered, the drug may not be properly classified or linked.
Drug not recognized as an immunization
The drug must be marked as an immunization for the system to apply immunization-related logic.
