1 Warning Label File

Variables 214–216 control how warning labels display in the label design.

Warning Label File

This screen provides access to the library of configured warning labels used on printed pharmacy labels. These labels can be assigned to individual drugs as needed.

To access the Warning Label File screen, click on File B. Warning Label File.

Adding a New Warning Label Code

When the screen opens, ensure that the Add New Code option is selected at the top. Enter the Warning Label Code along with its Description, and include an Alternate Description if applicable. Once all required information has been entered, click Save to retain the entry and remain on the current screen, or select Save & Exit to save the information and return to the Rx Processing screen.

Editing an Existing Warning Label Code

To edit an existing warning label code, enter either the full or partial code into the search field to locate the desired record. Once the results are displayed, select the appropriate code by clicking anywhere on its row or by entering its corresponding line number. After selecting the record, update the necessary fields as needed, then click Save to apply the changes or Save & Exit to save and return to the Rx Processing screen.

Deleting a Warning Label Code

To delete a warning label code, select the Edit Code option at the top of the screen. Enter the Warning Label Code and press Enter to display the record. Click the Delete button, then confirm the action by selecting Yes when prompted with the message, “Are you sure you want to delete this record?”

To clear all data displayed on the screen, click the Cancel button or press Enter while the Cancel button is highlighted. This will reset the screen fields without saving any changes.

Warning Codes In Drug File

When selecting a drug in the Drug File, if you would like to add a custom warning code, select the drug and click More. In the Warning Code File, search for the desired warning code or enter the numeric code (e.g., Warning Code 1 – Refrigerate), then click Save & Exit.

Warning Code on Drug Label

Variables 214–216 are custom variables that correspond to the three warning code slots in the Drug File. To display these warning codes on selected drugs and labels, enter the appropriate warning code and assign Variables 214–216 within the Label Designer so they appear on the printed label.

FAQ: Auxiliary Warning Issues

Why can’t I edit default auxiliary warnings?
Default warnings are read-only because they come from Medi-Span data.
What should I do? Create a custom warning in the Warning Label File and assign it to the drug.

Why are there no warnings showing for a drug?
This can happen if the drug is not properly linked to Medi-Span or if it was manually created.
What should I do? Run a Medi-Span update or create custom warnings manually.

Why does “Needs Translation” appear on the label?
This appears when translation data is missing from Medi-Span.
What should I do? Replace it with a custom warning that includes the correct translated text.
