Surescripts Prescriber Directory
The SureScripts directory provides a fast way to search for prescribers in the E‑Rx network. It is updated nightly in BestRx and includes prescribers with recent activity. If a prescriber does not appear, they may not be enrolled, may not have sent a prescription within the past year, or may not meet network activity requirements. If a prescriber accepts refill requests but does not appear as eligible, they may not be subscribed to the refill service level, may not have processed a refill within the past 180 days, or may be new and have not yet sent the required number of new prescriptions through the network.
To access the E-Rx Prescriber Directory, click on E-Rx B. Surescripts Prescriber Directory.
The search supports full or partial entries using the prescriber’s last name, first name, city, state, ZIP code, SPI, NPI number, or DEA number.
This search can be used to locate prescribers by a specific location or a broader area. Because U.S. ZIP codes are typically adjacent, entering a partial ZIP code expands the search. For example, entering 1002 returns all prescribers in ZIP codes starting with 1002, while entering 100 expands the search further.
You may narrow the search using any combination of available fields. When finished, select Search to generate the SureScripts prescriber listing.
Import to Prescriber File
From the results, prescribers can be added by selecting the checkbox next to their name and clicking Add to Your Prescriber File. A confirmation message will display the number of prescribers added; select OK to close it.
To clear all entered search data, select Clear or press Enter while Clear is highlighted.
Prescriber Service Level
Before importing a prescriber for refill requests, verify that the prescriber’s Service Level supports Refill, and Controlled Substances if applicable. When an SPI number with the required service level is imported, the corresponding service level checkbox will automatically populate in the Prescriber File.
If you prefer not to import the prescriber, you may manually copy and save the SPI number in the Prescriber File. Ensure all information matches the correct prescriber and service level. For more details, see the Prescriber File.
