The Profit Report is commonly used to review prescription-level profitability by comparing reimbursement (insurance + copay) against acquisition costs, helping pharmacies identify underpaid claims, evaluate margins, and support financial analysis.

It is also used to analyze payment mix (cash vs insurance), investigate discrepancies in reimbursement or profit calculations, and support internal audits or reporting needs.

  • Compare reimbursement vs acquisition cost to determine profit per prescription

  • Analyze overall pharmacy profitability and profit/loss over a selected date range

  • Review prescription mix by payment type (cash vs insurance) using the Summary tab

  • Identify reimbursement discrepancies and investigate underpaid claims

  • Support internal audits and financial reporting requirements

  • Evaluate financial performance across prescriptions, plans, patients, prescribers, or drugs

  • No filter available for specific subsets such as controlled substances (requires dev request)

  • Limited ability to group or categorize insurance plans (e.g., private vs Medicaid)

  • Not designed for certain analytics (e.g., ranking highest revenue drugs by amount)

  • Dependent on accurate acquisition cost (ACQ) data from drug file or EDI

  • Results can vary across different BestRx versions if not aligned
