Do not print labels from this screen, as they may not display correctly. For best results, print labels from the Rx Profile or the Main Processing Screen.

Label Design

The label design function of the BestRx program is used to modify and adjust your prescription label.

This function is available to all BestRx users; however, we strongly recommend contacting Support for any label adjustments.

While brief explanations of the feature are provided, errors can be difficult to reverse and previous labels may be hard to recreate. For this reason, contacting Support before making changes is the simplest and safest option.

A. Prescription Label

To configure Labels and how they print, click on Administration 7. Label Design.

Label Design General Settings

Type: Defines the type of element being added to the label, such as a variable, custom text, or barcode.
Example: Variable (select from the variable list), Text (insert custom text), Barcode/QR Code (Pre‑Defined) (select from the barcodes list), or QR Code (Custom).

Var #: Selects which variable from the list will appear on the label.
Example: Variable #11 displays the Rx # with the New/Refill indicator (e.g., 1012234R).

Font: Controls the font size, font style (regular, bold, italic, etc.), and font type applied to the selected variable.
Example: Font type can be changed to Arial or Times New Roman using the dropdown or the “…” three‑dots button.

X: Controls the horizontal (left‑to‑right) placement of the selected variable on the label.
Example: If Test Patient variable (60) starts at X value 64, changing it to 60 shifts it left, and increasing it to 70 shifts it right.

Y: Controls the vertical (up‑and‑down) placement of the selected variable on the label.
Example: If Test Patient variable (60) is set to Y value 64, increasing it to 70 shifts it down, while decreasing it to 55 shifts it up.

Alignment: Determines how the variable is aligned within its field on the label.

Angle: Rotates the selected variable on the label (0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees).

Length: Limits the width of the variable and affects the maximum font size available.
Example: Increasing the length allows for a larger font size, though multiple adjustments may be required for the desired appearance.

Specialty Code: Controls whether the label field prints based on prescription criteria.

Save: Saves all changes made to the selected variable or barcode.

Delete: Removes the selected variable or barcode from the label.

Get Last: Returns to the most recently modified variable or barcode for quick readjustment.
Example: If Variable 54 was changed from font size 10 to 12, selecting Get Last allows you to return to that variable and change it back to 10 or make additional edits.

Cancel: Exits the selected variable without saving changes.

Exit: Leaves the label design screen.

Variable Adjustment Example

The same settings apply to Text types; the only difference is that the text is manually entered. For example, if you want to add “Priority” to the label and no variable exists for it, you can enter it as custom text to appear on the label.

You can zoom in and out of the label design page using the zoom buttons. Selecting a variable (e.g., N100449) highlights it in red and displays its settings on the left, such as type, font size, and X/Y coordinates, where adjustments can be made (e.g., changing font size or bold). Variables can also be selected in the coordinates section, where they appear highlighted in green. This page allows you to review all variables and barcodes on the label.

Barcode/QR Code Adjustment Example

By selecting or adding a Barcode/QR Code from the value type list, the barcode can be selected and will highlight in red. Barcode settings such as Bar Width, Narrow/Wide Ratio, Barcode Type, and Height can be adjusted, as these are the key values that affect whether the barcode prints correctly on the label.

Shift

You can shift the entire label horizontally by entering negative values (e.g., -10) to move it left or positive values to move it right. Similarly, use negative values to shift the label upward and positive values to shift it downward vertically. You can preview the position before applying the shift and saving the change.

Other

Allows you to enter the Rx number in Show Rx # and specify the fill date for that prescription. Field Help should always remain enabled, as it highlights selectable variables with a red field and is essential for guidance.

Changing the Label Number is not recommended. Only make changes with support assistance, as there are many label numbers and support can help ensure the correct selection. Always seek assistance before making any changes to this field.
