Check Drug Interactions
The Check Drug Interactions screen allows the user to check if there are any drug interactions between any two or more drugs in the system. This functionality requires that the Medispan files be updated and current as it relies on the information provided in that update.
To check for any drug interactions, enter in the whole name of the drug or enter in part of the drug name to bring up a search list.
To pick a drug from the list, click anywhere on the row of the drug or type in the line number in the field below the list and press the "Enter" key.
Repeat these steps for the remaining drugs to be checked.
The user may also follow these steps to search by a drug’s NDC number as well.
Once all the drugs are entered into the fields, click the "Check Interactions" button or press the "Enter" key when the "Check Interactions" button is highlighted to check if there are any drug interactions between the drugs.
If there is in deed a drug interaction between any two or more drugs the system will generate a report on the specific interaction information between those drugs, like the one shown below. To print the interaction information click the "Print" button or press the "Enter" key when the "Print" button is highlighted. To close the report, click the "OK" button or press the "Enter" key when the "OK" button is highlighted.
If there is no interaction between any of the drugs the system will display a pop up message saying “There are no Interactions between the selected drugs”.
The user may also clear all the data displayed on the screen by clicking the "Cancel" button or by pressing the "Enter" key when the "Cancel" button is highlighted.
