Overview
BestRx includes a function to let pharmacists indicate on the Rx Processing screen what time they want to have a prescription ready by. In a sense, it is a time they “promise” their patients they can get their medication. No setup is needed to start using this feature.
A field for this time has been added above the Workflow History Field.
Usage
Click on the Clock icon to open the Rx Promise Time prompt.
Set Specific Promise Time: Allows you to configure a date and time for the medication to be ready, along with priority and notes.
Patient is Waiting: If the patient is in the pharmacy, can set how soon in minutes (using preset time intervals) the Rx should be ready in, along with priority and notes.
If you are creating multiple Rxs for the same patient (by clicking Same Patient/Same Patient & Prescriber for Next Rx after creating an Rx), subsequent Rxs will use the Promise Time set in the preceding Rx. So if the first one has a Promise Time of 8pm next Friday, you can fill the rest of the patients prescriptions and the Promise Time will pre-populate.
If you are processing multiple refills for one patient from the refill queue, and the first Rx already has a Promise Time saved, but the second does not, you will see a prompt asking whether you’d like to use the current Promise Time, or the one from the previously saved Rx.
Intake Queue and Promise Times
You can also set Promise Times when filling from the Intake Queue. The only unique requirement here is that the Promise Time must be greater than the Defer Date. Currently, the Promise Time gets set to the same time as the Defer Date by default.
Once set, the Promise Time will display along with the rest of the Intake information. The Promise Time can be set separate from the rest of the Intake info at this point by clicking on the promised time in the grid. This will open the normal Promise Time window. Additionally, the Promise Time cell in the grid will be colored depending on priority set, i.e. red for high priority.
Refill Queue and Custom Queues
Promise Times will now also display in the Refill Queue and any Rx Custom Queues. They can be adjusted by clicking on the time, and the color of their cell will change depending on set priority. Additionally, Rx Status and Workflow Status have been added to any Edit Mode Custom Queues for easier reference on where the Rx stands in the pharmacy’s workflow. Refill Queues will not have Rx Status and Workflow Status visible.
Dashboard Tile
Promise Time includes a dashboard tile for keeping track of Rxs that are coming close to their Promise Time. The tile can be configured to show between 1-4 time ranges.
Promise Time Queue
A default Promise Time queue has been added that can be accessed from the notification bar or the aforementioned dashboard tile. It lets us view all Rxs that have had a Promise Time set, excluding the intake queue. A number of filters are present to organize this queue, such as nursing home, cycle, and dispense status/method.
