The top row of buttons (pictured below) are shortcuts to common functions used in BestPOS, including:

  • Price Check

  • Void

  • Hold

  • Return

  • Delivery

  • Customer

  • Drawer

  • Reprint reciept

  • No Sale

We will review each shortcut button in more detail below.

Price Check F2

Clicking the “Price Check F2” button, or hitting the F2 key on your keyboard, will bring up the price check function within BestPOS.

Here, you can enter the Item SKU or scan the item using your barcode scanner to display the item’s price. Then, you can increase the item’s quantity, or scan additional items to see the entire transaction price.

To check the price of different items individually, just click the "Clear" button to remove the current information before scanning the other items.

Void F3

Clicking the “Void F3” button, or the F3 key on your keyboard, will void a transaction. (BestPOS will automatically void and cancel the current transaction when this function is used.)

Hold / Resume F4

Clicking the “Hold/Resume F4” button, or hit F4 on your keyboard, will put a transaction on hold, or resume a held/delivery transaction.

Using the Hold function immediately places the transaction on hold, where it will be stored in your BestPOS system for future use.

Next, we’ll walk through how to use the Resume function.

When the “Resume” button is pressed, a screen will appear (pictured above) listing all the transactions that are currently on hold. The “Hold Type” indicates whether it’s a regular or a delivery transaction. (The resume process is the same, regardless of the hold type.)

Simply click on the transaction you wan to resume and you’ll be taken to a new screen, pictured below.

Here, you will see details of the transaction, including all items associated with it. You can perform a variety of functions using the buttons along the bottom of the screen:

  • To continue, click the “Resume Transaction” button.

  • To cancel the process, simply hit the “Cancel” button to exit the screen.

  • To print a Delivery Ticket/Receipt for the transaction using the corrosponding buttons in the bottom right. (Receipts will automatically be sent to and printed from your receipt printer.)

  • To delete a transaction that was accidentally placed on hold/delivery, just click “Delete Transaction”. You will be asked to confirm the action before the transaction will removed the list because once deleted, it can’t be undone.

Return F5

Clicking the “Return F5” button, or hitting the F5 key on your keyboard, initiates the return process.

To complete a return, you will need to enter the Original Receipt number or Item SKU.

  • If this information is not available, click the “Return Item without SKU” button. Then, enter the amount for the return and continue the return process as normal. (Please note, returns without a Item SKU, or that only have SKU information available, can not be refunded to a credit card, it can only be processed as a cash refund.)

To continue the return process, click the check-box next to the item(s) being returned.

Then, enter the quantity being returned and click “OK” when finished.

You can also add comments in the Remark field, if needed.

Once all the information has been entered, click Return continue. Then, a confirmation window will appear.

To proceed, click “Yes” and a window will appear, displaying the refund amount owed. The, simply click “OK” to complete the return.

(NOTE: Transactions for non-cash tender types will require an additional step; asking you to select the appropriate tender type.)

Delivery F6

Clicking the “Delivery F6” button, or hitting F6 on your keyboard, will put a transaction on a delivery hold.

This functions very similarly to a transaction hold, however here you additional printing options, including the ability to print:

  • The Delivery Receipt

  • The Delivery Ticket

  • Both the Receipt and Ticket

  • Not printing either

This is primarily used to flag/record deliveries in BestPOS. After the items have been delivered and payment has been obtained, you can use the Hold/Resume F4 function to resume and finalize the delivery transaction.

Customer F7

Clicking the “Customer F7”, or F7 on your keyboard, will bring up the Customer File.

The customer file is where your customer information is stored. The BestPOS database can be used on its own, however, it is fully integrated with BestRx, so you can easily access customer information across both systems, including:

  • Utilizing the BestRx database/records during BestPOS searches

  • Automatically adding any new record you enter in BestPOS into your BestRx customer database.

To search for a customer, type their name in the "Customer" field. If needed, you can filter the results to only show charge (house) account customers by checking the "Show Only Acc/Rec Customers" box.

On the Customer File screen, there are two tabs, Customer Details and Billing Details. The Customer Details tab is where their name, date of birth and other demographic information is kept.

  • To edit a customer file, just click on the line you’d like to edit.

If you need to add a new customer, click "Add Customer" in the upper left of the Customer File screen.

When adding a new customer, some fields are required and others are optional. The required fields are:

  • Customer Name

  • Family Name

  • Date of Birth

All other fields in the customer file are optional.

The Billing Info tab can be used for:

  • Charge Accounts

  • Storing billing address information

  • Storing credit card information for future purchases*

*After saving the information, the credit card number and expiration date will be truncated, are unable to be shown again and can only be used during transactions when no card is present, in accordance with Federal FTC FACTA regulations.

Drawer F8

Clicking the “Drawer F8” button, or the F8 key on your keyboard, will display your drawer functions.

  • Add Cash to Register allows you to adjust the drawer when cash is added.

  • Take Cash from Register allows you to adjust the drawer when cash is removed.

  • Add Check to Register allows you to adjust the drawer when a check is added.

  • Adjustment to Vendor allows you to adjust the drawer based on money given or removed by a vendor or removed for a vendor. You will also be asked to select a valid vendor to attribute the adjustment to.

  • Cash Paid to Vendor allows you to adjust the drawer for cash paid to a vendor. This option will also require you to select a valid vendor to attribute the payment to.

  • Lotto Ticket Winner allows you to adjust the drawer when Lotto ticket winnings are removed from drawer.*

  • Lotto Machine Winner allows you to adjust the drawer when Lotto machine winnings are removed from drawer.*

*When either Lotto option is selected, you will need to enter the Amount Paid in the value field and any comments you would like to include in the Remark field before clicking “Save” to complete the adjustment.

Reprint Sales Receipt F9

Clicking the “Reprint Sales Receipt F9” button, or the F9 key on your keyboard, will reprint a sales receipt or delivery ticket for a transaction.

To re-print a Sales Receipt, you’ll start by searching for the transaction by Sales Date or Receipt Number, then click "Search".

When searching by date, BestPOS will display all receipts for the selected date/range. After the transaction has been found, just click on it and the receipt will automatically populate below. Then, you can:

  • Print it again by clicking the "Print Sales Receipt" button

  • "Print Gift Receipt"

  • "Email Sales Receipt"

  • "Add to Delivery Queue"

  • "Print Delivery Ticket"

Please note; the Email option is also available on the "Cash Back to Customer" window or under Other > Reprint Return Receipt.

No Sale

Clicking the “No Sale” button will open the drawer, without requiring a sale to be made.

For security purposes, a verification screen will appear, requiring a password to open the drawer.

Enter the password and hit Verify to open the drawer.
