To access the Sig File screen, click on File ->

A. Sig File.

Below is the Sig File screen:

The Sig Code File is a library of your configured sig codes, which will bring up the instructions for taking a particular drug. To search for Sig Codes in the system, enter the sig code or description into the search box and click "Display All". Click on the Sig you'd like to edit.

Adding a

new

New Sig Code

:

When entering in a new Sig Code make sure the "Add New Sig" option is selected. Enter in the Sig Code, press the "Enter" key to skip to the next field.

  • Daily Supplies (optional): The Daily Supplies for a sig code indicates the quantity of the drug that the patient will use per day, not the number of days the drug will last.

  • Language: The first language field (always top-left) will be English by default.

  • Description: Enter the description for this sig code.

If you'd like to attach a different language sig to this code, click the "Add Another Language" button. Choose the appropriate language, and enter in the description for this sig code in the language specified.

NOTE:

The program does NOT automatically translate the directions entered. You either have to input the language yourself, have someone translate the directions for you, or use a service like RxTran to utilize their translation services.

When finished entering the appropriate information click on the "Save" button or press the "Enter" key when the "Save" button is highlighted to save the information. Click the "Save & Exit" button or press the "Enter" key when the "Save & Exit" button is highlighted to save the information and go to the Rx Processing screen.

Editing an

existing

Existing Sig Code

:

To edit an existing sig code, enter the sig code click on File -> 9. Sig File and or description into the search box and click "Display All", then search/click on any sig you wish to edit.

When editing an existing sig code make sure the Edit Sig option is selected towards the top of the screen. Enter in the appropriate information to be edited and click the ‘Save’ button or press the ‘Enter’ key when the ‘Save’ button is highlighted to save the information. Click the ‘Save & Exit’ button or press the ‘Enter’ key when the ‘Save & Exit’ button is highlighted to save the information and go to the Rx Processing screen.

The user may also clear all the data displayed on the screen by clicking the ‘Cancel’ button or by pressing the ‘Enter’ key when the ‘Cancel’ button is highlighted.

Adding

dosage information

Dosage Information to a Sig Code

:

In order to add dosage information to a Sig, the desired sig needs to be first pulled up in Edit mode as outlined above; from there simply click the Dosage Info tab then click "Add New Dosage".

From this screen you can enter in the appropriate dosage info to be attached to this Sig Code when utilizing it for nursing home prescriptions. After the user is done entering the dosage information simply click "Save" to attach it to the Sig Code.

Deleting a Sig Code

To delete a Sig Code make sure the Edit Sig option is selected at the top of the screen. Enter in the Sig Code and press the "Enter" key to bring up the Sig Code information. Click the "Delete" button towards the bottom of the screen and click "Yes" when the system asks “Are you sure you want to delete this record?

The user may also clear all the data displayed on the screen by clicking the "Cancel" button or by pressing the "Enter" key when the "Cancel" button is highlighted.
