Compound

The Compound Details screen is used when submitting a compound prescription to the insurance company that contains multiple ingredients.

As of the NCPDP D.0 standard, this information is required to successfully process compound prescriptions.

Automatic Quantity Adjustment

If a compound is built for one quantity but dispensed at another, the system automatically recalculates ingredient quantities while preserving the correct ratios.

Example:

  • Compound built for quantity 90

  • Prescription entered for quantity 120

  • The system proportionally adjusts each ingredient to maintain the original compound formulation

Entering Compound Information

Compound information can be entered manually, but the most efficient method is to pull data directly from a pre‑configured compound drug.

Because this screen mirrors the Compound screen in the Drug File, users can reuse existing compound definitions.
