Tender Types
There are a few ways to collect a payment after hitting using the Tender “Tender” button on the register during a transaction. This article We will go over review each of them , explaining any specifics or conditions they may have.in more detail below:
Cash
Selecting this option will bring up a window asking you to enter in how much money is the amount of money being collected. Entering in
If you enter a value below the transaction amount, you will
be returned to the Tender Type selection window to select an additional
method of payment to complete
the transaction.
If you enter an value above the transaction
amount, a prompt
will apear listing the amount of change to issue the customer.
Check
This Selecting this option will bring up a screen asking you to enter in the check details of the check collected. . Keep in mind, BestPOS does not cash checks, so this entry is symbolicfor record-keeping purposes only.
The only mandatory field is the Amount field. From there, you can enter any other check details you’d like, including:
Amount: The dollar amount listed on the check.
Check #: The check number listed on the check.
Cust Name: The name of the customer.
License #: The customer’s driver’s license number.
Phone #: The customer’s phone number.
Bank Name: The name of the customer’s bank.
Routing #: The routing number for the customer’s bank account.
Account #: The account number for the customer’s bank account.
The only mandatory field is the Amount field. You can enter as many or as few check details after that as you’d like.
Credit Card
Credit card payment methods can look different depending on your payment processor.No Payment Processor
A If you have not set up an account with one of our integrated payment processors, Heartland or Cardknox, a prompt will appear on the right hand of the Tender Type screen asking you screen> Here, you will need to enter in the amount and card info for the payment.

Integrated Payment Processor
If you have been an account set up with one of our integrated payment processors, Heartland or Cardknox, you’ll see slightly different looking the windows for entering the card information . In addition, if card information has been will vary slightly (depending on the processor you’ve selected).
If a patient has credit card information saved on file for the customer, a prompt will appear asking if you’d like to use that card info; in this case, the card itself doesn’t need to be in the pharmacythe stored card information. This way the patient can pay for their orders without having to bring the card to the pharmacy each time.
Debit Card
Debit cards follow the same logic process as credit cards, with the main difference being that the however, the system may prompt for a PIN number. It can (This will depend on the payment processor and/or the customer’s bank on whether a PIN is requested.)
FSA/HRA Card
In order to be able to To take FSA/HRA card payments, the pharmacist in charge must be a member of SIG-IS, or the Special Interest Group for IIAS Standards. On You can enroll on their website , navigate by navigating to Membership Signup → SIG-IS Membership Form Help and become a member. Once that is done, a BestRx support representative can assist . When your membership is active, a member of our support team will assist you with filling out the required TPS certification form needed. Once completed, you’ll be able to take this is complete, you can begin processing FSA/HRA card payments in BestPOS through your integrated payment processor in BestPOS.
Remember, FSA/HRA cards can only be used to pay for FSA/HRA eligible items. The item For this reason, the item(s) must be listed in the transaction at when selecting the time that FSA/HRA Card is selected as a tender type. Charge Account
The transaction balance of the transaction can also be applied to a patient’s charge account. Charge accounts can be viewed and managed within BestRx, under using the Acct Receivables drop down menu. In BestPOS, payment can be collected for these accountsYou can collect payment for charge accounts in BestPOS as well.
Selecting the Charge Account tender type will ask you to select a customer, if one isn’t already associated with the transaction. If the customer doesn’t yet have a an existing charge account open, you will be prompted to open one for them at this time.

Charge accounts are associated with the Family Name listed in the patient’s file. In this way, multiple patients can be put under the same charge account, by putting them in the same family. |
Food Stamp
This tender type should be used if the patient is presenting using paper food stamps to cover the balance of the transaction. They can only pay for their transaction. As with FSA/HRA payments, food stamps can only be used to cover the balance of items marked as Food Stamp eligible items. (You can indicate whether an item is eligible in their the item file.)
EBT Card
Functionally a EBT cards are the debit card replacement to paper form of food stamps. As with the paper version, the EBT Card option only cover Cards can only be used towards items marked as EBT eligible “EBT eligible” in their item file. As this is a card process, you will need an integrated payment processor set up in your BestPOS system.(An account with one of our integrated payment processors is required to accept/process EBT card payments in BestPOS.)
OTC Card
Currently, OTC Cards cannot be processed within the BestPOS system; you . Entering the transaction in BestPOS is for record-keeping purposes only. It does not collect/move any money from the OTC card.
You will need a standalone terminal from InComm to actually collect payment from an OTC card. The transaction in BestPOS is symbolic and won’t actually move any money from the OTC card. To get set up with a OTC card terminal, reach out to InComm on their OTC Benefits Card page and fill out the contact form at the bottom.
